Day 1 

India responded solidly with KL Rahul's unbeaten half-century following Mohammed Siraj's four-wicket haul, then two wickets each from Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav as the West Indies bowled out for 162 on the opening day of the first Test match.

Day 2

KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, and Ravindra Jadeja scored centuries help India take a commanding 286-run first innings lead on day two of the first Test match.

Day 3

Ravindra Jadeja's four-wicket haul and Mohammed Siraj's three wicket haul as India seal an innings and 140-run victory inside three days of the first Test match.



The West Indies lost all their ten wickets in two sessions on the first day, they repeated the same on the third day of the first Test match. Only two players managed to score in the 30s and just two faced 50 or more balls. With five days remaining before the start of the second Test at Delhi, they have time to address these issues. The wait to win a Test match against India on Indian soil, now entering its 31st year, continues.

Ravindra Jadeja didn't his double century but finished with a brilliant unbeaten 104 and took 4 wickets for 54 runs. Dhruv Jurel scored his first Test century - which proved to be match-winning. KL Rahul also displayed great skill with a classy century and Shubman Gill secured his first Test win as India’s captain at home, leading the team to a 1-0 lead in the 2-match series.


West Indies 1st Innings Batting:

West Indies bowled out for 162 in 44.1 overs with Justin Greaves was the top-scorer - who made 32 runs off 48 balls featuring 4 fours, Shai Hope contributed 26 runs off 36 balls including 3 fours, while Roston Chase added 24 off 43 balls hitting 4 fours.

India 1st Innings Bowling:

For India, Mohammed Siraj was the best bowler for India in the first innings - who claiming 4 wickets for 40 runs in 14 overs contained 3 maidens, Jasprit Bumrah captured 3 wickets for 42 runs in 14 overs with 3 maidens, Kuldeep Yadav picked up 2 wickets and Washington Sundar took 1 wicket.

India 1st Innings Batting:

India declared at 448 for 5 in 128 overs with Dhruv Jurel was the top-scorer for India - who made a career-best 125 off 210 balls - his first Test century - featuring 15 fours and 3 sixes. 

Ravindra Jadeja remained a unbeaten 104 off 176 balls, marking his 6th Test century and second against the West Indies - He smashing 6 fours and 5 sixes.

KL Rahul played a classy innings of 100 off 197 balls - his 11th Test century and second against the West Indies featuring 12 fours, Shubman Gill contributed 50 off 100 balls with 5 fours and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 36 off 54 balls hitting 7 fours.

West Indies 1st Innings Bowling:

For West Indies, Roston Chase was the best bowler for the West Indies - taking 2 wickets. Jayden Seales, Khary Pierre and Jomel Warrican each claimed 1 wicket.

West Indies 2nd Innings Batting:

In their second innings, the West Indies 146 for all out in 45.1 overs with Alick Athanaze was the top-scorer with 38 runs off 74 balls hitting  3 fours.

Justin Greaves added 25 off 52 balls with 4 fours, Jayden Seales smashed a unbeaten 22 off 12 balls hitting 2 sixes and a four,with a impressive strike rate of 183.33, John Campbell and Johann Layne each contributed 14 runs.
