Sent in to bat, there was anticipation about how India’s top order would handle the Gabba pitch, known for its bounce and carry. With Josh Hazlewood, Australia’s nemesis, absent as he prepared for the Ashes, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill capitalized, scoring 52 runs before play was halted after 4.5 overs.
