A disciplined bowling effort, combined with a valuable 79-run partnership between Steve Waugh and Greg Matthews guided Australia tense four-wicket win over India, despite Roger Binny’s economical bowling figures, in a low-scorer contest during the third match of the Benson and Hedges World Series Cup.

In reply, Australia chased 164 for 6 in 45.2 overs with Greg Matthews was the top scorer with an unbeaten 46 runs from 77 balls, while Steve Waugh scored 40 runs off 95 balls featuring two fours.

Craig McDermott smashed a quick-fire unbeaten 24 off 21 balls - who hitting 4 fours and Allan Border added 16 runs from 25 balls featuring three fours.

India bowling :

India’s best bowling was led by Roger Binny - who took three wickets for 38 runs in 10 overs, including two maidens, Chetan Sharma captured two wickets and Shivlal Yadav claimed one-wicket.

Player of the match :

Greg Matthews was named Player of the Match for his match-winning valuable unbeaten 46 - which included a boundary.
