Srikkanth, Vengsarkar, Malhotra and Yashpal helped India historic first-ever 3-0 sweep

Kris Srikkanth’s brilliant 83-ball 92 then solid contributions from Dilip Vengsarkar, Ashok Malhotra and Yashpal Sharma helped India secure an comfortable six-wicket win over Sri Lanka. Despite another hundred from Roy Dias and India clinched their historic first-ever series 3-0 whitewash during the third & final One-day international.

Ashantha de Mel contributed 25 off 16 balls, Duleep Mendis made 23 off 38 balls, while Sidath Wettimuny and Ranjan Madugale each added 18 runs.

India Bowling:

For India, Dilip Joshi, Kapil Dev, Madan Lal was the best bowler's for India - each taking 2 wickets and Roger Binny claimed 1 wicket.

India Innings:

India chased down the target of 234 for 4 in 39.2 overs with Kris Srikkanth was the top-scorer with 92 off 83 balls - who falling just eight runs short of his maiden century; this was the second time he narrowly missed a hundred in the series. 

Dilip Vengsarkar contributed 42 off 61 balls, Yashpal Sharma remained a unbeaten 30 off 27 balls, Ashok Malhotra was unbeaten 27 off 44 balls, Roger Binny and Kapil Dev each added 15 runs.

Sri Lanka Innings:

For Sri Lanka, Ashantha de Mel was the best bowler for India - who took 2 wickets and Somachandra De Silva claimed 1 wicket.

Player of the match:

Kris Srikkanth was named Player of the Match for his match-winning brilliant 92 runs off 83 balls.
