Sunil, Roy, Duleep and De Silva brothers leads to Sri Lanka historic first-ever ODI win

Sunil Wettimuny, Roy Dias and Duleep Mendis' fifties then the De Silva brothers shared five-wickets leads to Sri Lanka register their historic first-ever ODI win over India by a comfortable 47 runs in the reserve day game during ninth match of the Prudential World Cup.

Duleep Mendis blasted a quick-fire 64 runs off 57 balls, Roy Dias contributed 50 runs off 88 balls included two boundaries, Sudath Pasqual remained a unbeaten 23 runs off 26 balls with a boundary and Bandula Warnapura added 18 runs off 51 balls hitting two fours.

India Bowling:

For India, India’s best bowler was Mohinder Amarnath - who took 3 wickets for 40 runs in 12 overs, while Kapil Dev claimed one wicket.

India Innings:

India bowled out for 191 in 54.1 overs with Dilip Vengsarkar was the top-scorer with 36 runs off 57 balls - which included three-fours.

Anshuman Gaekwad contributed 33 runs off 52 balls contained two fours, Sunil Gavaskar added 26 runs off 54 balls including 2 fours, Gundappa Viswanath made 22 runs off 55 balls without hitting a boundary and Kapil Dev added 16 runs off 19 balls contained 2-fours.

Sri Lanka Innings:

For Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka’s best bowler was Somachandra de Silva was the best bowler for Sri Lanka - who took 3 wickets for 29 runs in 11 overs included a maiden.

Tony Opatha picked up 3 wickets for 31 runs in 10.1 overs, Stanley de Silva captured 2 wickets and Bandula Warnapura claimed 1 wicket.

Player of the match:

Duleep Mendis was named Player of the Match for his career-best blazing 64 runs off 57 balls - which including 3 sixes and a four with a strike rate of 112.28.
