Abhishek Sharma’s explosive 74 off just 39 balls, Shubman Gill’s quickfire 47 from 28-balls and Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 30 off 19 balls leads to India commanding six-wicket win over Pakistan in the Super Four game of the T20 Asia Cup.

  • India’s successful chase of 172 runs marked their highest-ever run chase against Pakistan in T20 internationals. Their previous highest chase was 160 at Melbourne during the 2022 T20 World Cup. This is also India’s highest chase in the T20 Asia Cup, surpassing their previous best of 148—also against Pakistan at Dubai in 2022.
  • Pakistan’s score of 55 for 1 was their highest powerplay total against India in the IPL. Their previous best powerplay was 54 for 0 at Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera, Ahmedabad (now Narendra Modi Stadium) in 2012.
  • Pakistan’s total of 171 was their third highest score against India in T20 internationals and also ranks as their third highest total in the T20 Asia Cup.
  • Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub set a record second-wicket partnership for Pakistan against India in T20Is, putting on 72 runs. The previous record was a 41-run stand between Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman at the same venue during the 2022 T20 Asia Cup.
  • Hardik Pandya reached 97 wickets in T20Is, becoming India’s second leading wicket-taker, just behind Arshdeep Singh, who has 100 T20I wickets.
  • Abhishek Sharma scored his fifty in 24 balls, equaling his joint third-fastest fifty for India in T20 internationals and setting the record for the fastest fifty by an Indian batsman against Pakistan in T20Is. He surpassed the previous record of a 29-ball half-century held by Yuvraj Singh at Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera, Ahmedabad (now Narendra Modi Stadium) in 2012.
  • Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill put together a record first-wicket partnership of 105 runs for India against Pakistan in T20 internationals, breaking the previous record of 77 runs set by Gautam Gambhir and Ajinkya Rahane at Bengaluru in 2012.

Pakistan posted a 171 for 5 in their 20 overs with Sahibzada Farhan was the top-scorer with 58 runs off 45 balls featuring 5 fours and 3 sixes. 

Saim Ayub contributed 21 runs off 17 balls included a six and a four, while Mohammad Nawaz added 21 runs from 19 balls, also featuring a six and a four.

Faheem Ashraf played a quickfire unbeaten 20 off 8 balls hitting 2 sixes and a four with a solid strike rate of 250, Salman Agha remained a  unbeaten 17 runs off 13 balls contained a six and Fakhar Zaman added 15 runs off 9 balls with 3 fours and a strike rate of 166.66.

India Bowling:

For India, Shivam Dube was the best bowler for India - taking 2 wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs, while Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav claimed one wicket each.

India Innings:

India chased down the target comfortably, reaching 174 for lost 4 wickets in 18.5 overs with Abhishek Sharma led the charge with a explosive 74 off 39 balls.

Shubman Gill smashed 47 off 28 balls - who falling just three runs short of a half-century hitting 8 fours at a strike rate of 167.85, Tilak Varma remained a unbeaten whirlwind 30 off 19 balls featuring 2 sixes and 2 fours with a impressive strike rate of 157.89 and Sanju Samson added 13 runs off 17 balls with a four.

Pakistan Bowling:

For Pakistan, Haris Rauf was the best bowler for Pakistan - who took 2 wickets for 26 runs in 4 overs, while Faheem Ashraf and Abrar Ahmed each claimed one-wicket.

Player of the match:

Abhishek Sharma was named Player of the Match for his brilliant, match-winning explosive innings of 74 runs off 39 balls - which included 6 fours and 5 sixes with a massive strike rate of 189.74.
