Facing a challenging target with 30 runs required from 30 balls and 6-wickets in hand, South Africa appeared poised to claim their first World Cup glory. India Innings :

India posted a respectable total of 176 for 7 in their 20 overs, with Virat Kohli leading the charge by scoring a masterclass 76 runs off 59 balls including six fours and two sixes with a strike rate of 128.81. 

Axar Patel contributed a powerful boost with a quickfire 47 off 31 balls including four sixes and a four with maintaining an impressive striking rate of 151.61.

Shivam Dube added a brisk 27 runs from 16 balls - who hitting 3 fours and a six, while Rohit Sharma contributed a quick 9 runs off 5 balls contained two boundaries.

South Africa bowling :

For South Africa, Keshav Maharaj and Anrich Nortje was the best bowlers, each claiming 2 wickets, while Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen chipped in with one wickets.

South Africa Innings :

In response, South Africa managed 169 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs. Heinrich Klaasen led the innings with a whirlwind 52 off just 27 balls smacked five sixes and two fours with a strike rate of 192.59. 

Quinton de Kock added a steady knock of 39 runs off 31 balls featuring four fours and a six with a strike rate of 125.80.

Tristan Stubbs contributed 31 runs from 21 balls including three fours and a six, while David Miller added 21 off 17 balls contained one six and a four.

India bowling :

Hardik Pandya was India’s best bowler - who picking up 3 wickets for 20 runs in 3 overs, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh each shared two wickets, and Axar Patel took one wicket.

Player of the match and series

Virat Kohli was named Player of the Match for his masterclass innings, while Jasprit Bumrah earned Player of the tournament for his outstanding bowling performance to contributed 15 wickets at an exceptional economy rate of 4.17.

* Following India’s T20 World Cup victory, Virat Kohli announced his retirement from T20 international cricket after being awarded Man of the Match in the final.

* India’s title-winning captain Rohit Sharma also confirmed his decision to step down from the T20 international format, marking the end of an era as he bids farewell to T20 international cricket after leading India to title glory.

" This was my last game as well," the captain Rohit Sharma said in his post-match press conference, referring to Virat Kohli's earlier announcement that he will be retiring from T20Is.
