Ishan Kishan's 59 was the highest-score for an Indian wicketkeeper on One-day international debut, surpassing the previous record of 55 held by Saba Karim against South Africa at Bloemfontein in 1997 and the 8th-highest score by a wicketkeeper on debut ODI match. Shikhar Dhawan captained India for the first time in his 143th match. He became the 25th player to captain for India in a One-day international. 35y 225 days : Shikhar Dhawan became the oldest captain on captaincy debut for India in ODIs, surpassing the previous record of 34y 37 days by Mahinder Amarnath against Pakistan at Sialkot in 1984. Shikhar Dhawan's unbeaten 86 was the 2nd highest-score by an Indian in his first ODI as captain. The highest was 110 by Sachin Tendulkar against same opponent and same venue in 1996 and also the 2nd-highest score in the chase by an Indian captain on captaincy debut in ODIs after Sachin Tendulkar. 17 Innings : Shikhar Dhawan became the quickest player to completed 1000 ODI runs against Sri Lanka in terms of innings, beating Hashim Amla's record, He took 18 innings to complete this feat. 140 Innings : Shikhar Dhawan became the 2nd quickest Indian player to completed 6000 ODI runs in terms of Innings after Virat Kohli's (136 innings). India's 91 for 1 was their highest-score in powerplay in ODIs since 2013, previous best was 83 for 0 against West Indies in 2019.

Sri Lanka scored 262-9 in 50 overs with best scorer by Chamika Karunaratne hit a unbeaten 43 off 35-balls included two-fours and a six. Dasun Shanaka scored 39 off 50-balls included two-fours & a six, Charith Asalanka hit 38 off 65-balls included a boundary.

Avishka Fernando scored 32 off 35-balls included two-fours & a six, Minod Bhanuka scored 27 off 44-balls including three-fours and Debutant Bhanuka Rajapaksa - who hit 24 off 22-balls on his debut ODI match - with two-sixes and two-fours.

India Top bowler by Deepak Chahar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal each strikes two-wickets, Krunal Pandya and Hardik Pandya both took one-wickets.
